The team remained consistent from our previous game against Slaz two weeks ago and it seems to be the key to playing well. There were a couple of changes and we welcomed Tom Maddocks back who had a solid performance at left back, in place of Tom Cooper, who was still nursing his groin (and Covid). Tom's still not revealed how he picked up the injury and I'm not sure he's about to, so we'll have to leave that to your imaginations.

To the game. A little reshuffle of positions saw the defence include Jon W at sweeper with Mark W, Tom M and Tiff. Even though i was part of the defence I'd say it never really looked in danger. Mark W was at his best and snubbed out pretty much any and everything. This gave the fullbacks confidence to move forward and join the attack, overloading Adel on a regular basis.

Again our composure in front of goal is questionable, our goal is a great case study. Mike G resorted to shouting 'leave it' as his (shot?) got close to the goal line and was helped over by the defender he'd asked to leave the ball! As I always say 'they all count' but I'd feel a little guilty claiming that one.

1-0 to Dragons

We remained in control of the game. We continued to create chances. We had a shot destined for the bottom corner cleared off the line from a short corner. We put 3 balls over the fence! We should have converted more. We play some attractive hockey and Adel couldn't match it.

What more is there to say? We face Leeds Uni next week who will be a tough opposition however we welcome back Tom C and Lee Booth. We will be practicing shooting at training so let's see what Saturday brings.

As for standout performances;
Matt Kaye deserves a mention for his concentration levels in goal and the work he puts in on a Tuesday. It paid off for him with a couple of one to one's he controlled well and lead to him keeping a well earned clean sheet.
Tom Maddocks gets an honourable mention for his first game back and looking like he's been there all season.

However Man of the match has to go to Woody - no one was getting past him!

As for the one no one wants - Tom Cooper deserves a mention for not being available again!! However this weeks winner is probably yours truly for taking a stick to the face. It's all I can think of in a week where we all played well.
