COVID-19 Hits hockey.

In light of the ongoing effects of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and government advice, England Hockey has taken the decision to suspend its nationally run hockey activity, as have Yorkshire, Yorkshire Youth and North hockey. With these decisions, the season has come to a premature end.

HDHC will be canceling all training and match play until further notice. The leagues have not come to an end yet, so we will have to wait and see what happens to this season in the long run.

The season has had it's ups and downs, with some teams struggling at the start, but being able to turn performances round or build-up some positive team spirit. We've seen great advances in the development of juniors playing senior-level hockey for the first time. It's been the first season we've fielded junior sides in all age groups. The mixed and masters sides have performed well yet again in the national cups. We've welcomed new players from Mirfield and Dewsbury into the ranks of the Dragons. So even with the disappointing end to the season, we can still look back at the positives we have achieved as a club.

Our AGM and annual awards dinner will be assessed as we get more information about how the virus is affecting public gatherings. We will keep you all updated when we find out anything else.

Keep your fitness up.

Your HDHC committee.
